Below are facts about our two types
of flowers and how they are made:
One type is the “Lann’s leaf” or BL
series.
Lann’s leaf is a type of palm tree
leaf. The leaves grows about 7 feet
long, and about 4 inches wide. The
leaves are colored then cut with a
hand press to make the different
flower pedal shapes. The palm leaves
grow in abundance in Thailand and
are a great sustainable product.
The other type of flower is the
“Sano” (sa-nō) or SN series.
The Sano plants also grow in
abundance in Thailand. The plants
grow about 6-7 feet tall, and about
2 inches in diameter. It has a
white fleshy inside, with a brown
exterior. The Sano plant is cut
into sections then carefully cut
into long flat sheets. The Sano
sheets are moistened then shaped,
cut, and/or tied into exquisite and
intricate designs.
Both Flowers can be re-shaped or
re-aligned by moistening them with
water. They are a natural plant
however, and may have tendencies to
resist dramatic reshaping. We feel
that the natural imperfections of
the plants make our products special
and unique.
The flowers are not made in a
factory. They are hand-made by a
small family business that enlists
the help of friends, relatives, and
neighbors and then brought back to
the family for packaging and
shipping. The production of these
flowers gives many people the
opportunity to work and support
themselves in a flexible home
environment.
Also, remember that most of our
flower stems are made of wood. Be
cautious when you try to bend or
break them to make arrangements.
